Waste sludge from both biological wastewater treatment systems and chemical treatment processes must be dewatered to contain 90% solids, together with new legal regulations. For this, thermal sludge dryers are used.

The wet sludge transferred from the entrance silos to the drying unit is dried in thermal dryers with the heat energy obtained from the gas engine and the boiler, and is made to contain 90% solids. This process is done by drying the sludge in an environment closed to the atmosphere with the heat given directly or indirectly to the dryer.

The dry solids ratio of the sludge in the dryers is greatly increased under low temperature and pressure. The sludge that will come out of the unit is transferred to the exit silos without any leakage to the outside and is made ready for storage. There is an odor removal unit in the entrance and exit silos to prevent odor problems.
